Avondale Neighborhood Play
(Summer Reading Program )
In partnership with The Community Builders and Back2Back Cincinnati, Compassionate Justice is offering a Neighborhood Play experience of learning in fun and exciting ways through games, intentional play, focused connection, reading, art, and Bible stories. This three-week program moves outside the church walls, planting itself in the courtyard of the Crescent Court Apartments, thus permitting deeper relationships to flourish!
We seek 20 caring adult volunteers that will demonstrate the love of Jesus by brining smiles and encouragement to children and their families. Volunteers will either be paired with a group of children to lead them in various learning activities, or you can help prepare and serve lunch.
Volunteer qualifications are easy:

- A friendly spirit that brings smiles and encouragement to children and their families
- Attend required orientation and training in June
- Be available for most dates (9 sessions) and times
- Humbly serve with a teachable heart and follow program design as instructed
- Follow child safety protocols
- Pass a background check

Pathway to Thriving
CJ is recruiting volunteers to coach students as they discover their identity in Christ and learn how to pursue their dreams. The Pathway to Thriving program serves boys and girls ages 10 to 15!
The program will include class time, group discussions, and field trips. During the program, each student will learn about the unique ways God created them and begin to discover their purpose and dreams for a thriving life.

- Committed Jesus Follower
- Heartfelt desire to help students discover their God given identity and learn how to pursue their dreams
- Be available during the week for each of the 5 scheduled sessions
- Attend required orientation and training
- Humbly serve with a teachable heart and follow the program design as instructed
- Follow student safety protocols
- Pass a background check

Compassion Outreach Volunteer Opportunities
Volunteer opportunities are available for both skilled and unskilled individuals. Most of the outreaches are “family friendly”. And we invite parents to involve their children and students as they exemplify how to “love their neighbor”! Everyone works at their own pace with the goals to:
• Glorify God
• Demonstrate our love for the community
• Develop high quality relationships with co-workers and community residents
• Enjoy serving together
• Work to accomplish the project priorities
Every month on the second Saturday, CJ organizes outreaches in Avondale to serve individuals and families as well as some institutions (i.e. schools, churches, public spaces). The outreaches include projects such as house maintenance (i.e. painting, etc.) and yard maintenance (i.e. pruning, weeding, mulching, etc.). We collaborate with a number of churches from the community as well as civic organizations. Our goal is to help carry the burdens of individuals and families which are too heavy for them to carry on their own (Galatians 6:2)!

Compassionate Justice and our partners are guided by Biblical truth. We incorporate Bible stories, prayer, and spiritual discussions within all of our programs. We hope each participant will experience God's amazing love and grow closer to Jesus during their experience!
